Dr. Dave started playing guitar in 2nd grade and played his first concert to his 6th grade class in the cafeteria. In 10th grade, he bought an amp and electric guitar and joined The Penguins in Grand Haven, Michigan, playing lots of parties, and wrote some originals. Dr. Dave successfully completed the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) Summer Session in Hollywood, CA in 1987. A philosophy professor by day (the “Dr.” comes from his having a Ph.D. in Philosophy) at a Phoenix-area community college, Dr. Dave began playing out in 2013 after one of his students (Harley Davidson) asked him to be a part of an acoustic duo (Struck Match).
Since then, he has been playing all over the Phoenix area at resorts, country clubs, restaurants, bars, and private parties. He plays 6-string and 12-string electric/acoustic guitars, and an electric guitar with live backing tracks. Dr. Dave is constantly learning new songs, and his repertoire includes classic rock, current hits, country, pop classics, reggae, a little rap, and a few TV/movie theme/humorous songs.
Dr. Dave’s shows are high energy — he doesn’t take breaks (unless nature calls) until the end of his allotted time (15 minutes before the gig time) — his appeal crosses generations, and he focuses on taking requests and singing the songs as closely as he can to the originals. He will be as mellow or loud and crazy as the crowd and venue dictate.
